Ohangla star Prince Indah has dismissed months of online speculation that he has quietly taken a second wife, telling an interviewer on Monday that his schedule leaves no room for such a thing, as he prepares to leave for a month-long tour of the United States.

"I have a very limited time; I do not have that time," the singer, whose real name is Evans Ochieng Owino, said in the interview that aired on Monday, 2 November, and was widely shared on Tuesday.

The rumours, which have circulated on Kenyan blogs since September, claimed the musician was planning to formalise a union with a woman he has worked with, with an introduction ceremony supposedly planned for December. K24 reported that the speculation was fuelled by his public association with Effie Osano, which some social media users read as more than professional. Indah did not name anyone in the interview.

'Criticise me, but leave my family'

Indah said he had no problem with critics so long as they kept their comments respectful, but drew a line at his household.

  • He described himself as easygoing and forgiving, but said family was one boundary he would not allow anyone to cross.
  • He warned that those who crossed that line would meet "the rough side" of him.
  • He urged fans to focus on the music ahead of the tour.

The musician married Winnie Nyamigori McAramis in a traditional ceremony in Migori on 13 April 2025, after cancelling most of his shows that month to prepare. The wedding drew a crowd of celebrities, including Lang'ata MP Jalang'o, media personality Oga Obinna, who arrived by helicopter, and comedian Terence Creative with his wife Milly Chebby. The couple have two children.

The US tour

The denial comes days before Indah's long-trailed American tour, which he has described as "a truly historic moment". The schedule released by organisers Jectone Oyoo and Jabali Entertainment, working with his management company Malaika Musicals, lists nine stops:

  • 7 November: Dallas, Texas (opening show)
  • 13 November: Atlanta, Georgia
  • 14 November: Minneapolis, Minnesota
  • 20 November: Washington DC-Maryland-Virginia area
  • 21 November: Allentown, Pennsylvania
  • 26 November: Los Angeles, California
  • 27 November: Bay Area, California
  • 28 November: Seattle, Washington
  • 5 December: Houston, Texas

Indah has claimed the tour makes him the first Kenyan artist to undertake a month-long, multi-state run across the US, a claim that has not been independently verified, and has promised fans "a very big surprise" during the trip. He dismissed earlier rumours that the tour was in doubt, saying in October that "the facts are clear, and the stage is set".

Ohangla's biggest export

Indah is the most commercially successful of the current generation of Ohangla musicians, with hits that have crossed from the Nyanza circuit into mainstream Nairobi playlists and charts. The US tour targets the large Kenyan diaspora communities in Texas, Georgia, Minnesota and the West Coast, where Luo-language shows have traditionally drawn strong crowds.
