Why public university lecturers might go back to the streets.
Lecturers play an important role in the delivery and development of an essential service, that is education in the society. However, disagreements between them and government over salaries, working conditions, delayed payments and implementation of agreements have often led to strikes and demonstrations. Despite negotiations and attempts to resolve the issues some challenges remain unsolved.
Days after public university Lecturers called off a nation wide strike which lasted for twenty eight days, another industrial storm might be there as there are fears that the government could delay on the newly signed ksh 20 billion return-to-work formula.
UASU has warned that Lecturers won't hesitate to down their tools again if the government fails to implement timeline of the 2025-2029 CBA.
The secretary General of UASU Dr.Constantine Wasonga issued this warning during an appearance before parliamentary committees on la vour and education.
