Wiper Patriotic Front leader Kalonzo Musyoka has intensified his political mobilisation in the Nyanza region, appealing to residents to support his presidential ambitions as he promises to continue the political vision of the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

Speaking during his tour of Homa Bay County on Friday, November 6, 2026, Kalonzo recalled his longstanding political relationship with Raila, highlighting his support for the former ODM leader in the 2013, 2017 and 2022 presidential elections.

Kalonzo served as Raila's running mate in the 2013 and 2017 elections, while maintaining their political alliance in the 2022 presidential contest.

He argued that his years of working alongside the late opposition leader had given him a clear understanding of Raila's political aspirations, pledging to ensure his vision is realised.

“Nataka niwahakikishie yale maono ya Baba. Hakuna mtu atakayekamilisha, ni mimi nitahakikisha kila kitu kinafanyika,” Kalonzo said.

His appeal was supported by Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) leader Eugene Wamalwa, who described Kalonzo as one of Raila's closest political allies and urged Nyanza residents to reciprocate the loyalty he demonstrated throughout their political journey.

Democratic Party leader Justin Muturi also recalled Raila's remarks about Kalonzo's political experience, backing the Wiper leader's appeal to the region.

The opposition delegation also used the visit to criticise President William Ruto's administration, with Kalonzo urging residents to rally behind the opposition ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Kalonzo Condemns Migori Convoy Attack

Kalonzo's Nyanza tour comes a day after his convoy was attacked by suspected goons in Migori County on Thursday, November 5.

The incident disrupted the opposition leaders' political engagements, with individuals reportedly throwing stones at vehicles, damaging several cars, including one belonging to former Attorney General Justin Muturi.

Police also deployed tear gas as tensions escalated during the confrontation.

Kalonzo condemned the attack, describing it as an indication of growing political intolerance and questioning the use of tear gas against people attending what he maintained was a peaceful political gathering.

The leaders called for political tolerance, insisting that Kenyans should be allowed to support different political formations without intimidation or violence.

The incident has attracted condemnation from several political leaders, including Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, who maintained that political disagreements should be resolved through dialogue and democratic processes rather than violence.

Meanwhile, Kalonzo and his allies have maintained that the attacks will not derail their political mobilisation efforts in the Nyanza region.

The Wiper leader's latest engagements signal an intensified effort to build support in a region historically associated with Raila Odinga as opposition leaders position themselves ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
