From Classroom Leader to Rising Political Force: The Journey of Ogweno Taya
Born in the year 2000, Ogweno Taya’s leadership journey began early, shaped by discipline, responsibility, and a steady rise through student and community leadership structures. His story reflects a consistent progression from classroom representation to wider political ambition.
He began his early education at Simbiri Primary School before transferring to Ochunyno Primary School in Class Two. It was here that his leadership potential first emerged when he was elected class representative. From that point, he steadily served in the same role until Class Six.
In Class Seven, his leadership was elevated when he was elected school deputy president, and by Class Eight, he had risen to become the school president. These early experiences laid a strong foundation for his future leadership path.
Upon joining secondary school, Ogweno became increasingly involved in spiritual and leadership roles. He served both in church and school leadership, eventually being elected as a district youth leader in Saye District, where he gained experience in guiding and mobilizing young people.
At the university level, his leadership journey continued. On his first day, he was elected class representative. In his second year, he rose to become school representative, and by third year, he was serving as Secretary General of RASAMU. He also participated in council activities, including overseeing RASAMU elections and engaging in SOMU politics.
In his final year, Ogweno Taya launched his political bid for MCA of Central Kasipul Ward, a campaign that has since gained significant attention and is considered a growing political threat to his competitors. He is reportedly connected with senior political figures in Homa Bay County, including Hon. Boyd Were, Senator Kajwang’, Women Rep Bensuda, and Governor Gladys Wanga.
Known widely by his political nickname “Ogweno Taya,” he is also known to have one wife, and his journey continues to shape him as a rising figure in grassroots and county politics.
