Security Alarm in Kabondo Kasipul as Leaders Clash Over Rising Insecurity
HOMA BAY, Kenya, July 22, 2026 – Growing concerns over insecurity in Kabondo Kasipul have sparked a political row, with residents being urged to take a more active role in safeguarding their communities as leaders trade blame over the situation.
Community members, youth leaders, and parents have raised alarm over increasing security challenges in parts of the constituency, calling for stronger collaboration between residents and security agencies to curb criminal activities and protect lives and property.
Amid the concerns, former Kabondo Kasipul MP Sylvanus Osele has criticized area MP Dr. Eve Obara, accusing her of failing to provide adequate leadership in addressing the security situation. Osele claimed that the focus should be on finding lasting solutions to insecurity rather than engaging in public relations activities.
According to the former legislator, residents expect their leaders to spearhead initiatives that strengthen community policing, improve coordination with security agencies, and ensure that emerging threats are addressed promptly.
On her part, Dr. Obara has previously maintained that security remains a shared responsibility involving national government agencies, local leaders, and members of the public. She has also participated in several security meetings and engagements aimed at enhancing safety within the constituency.
Residents have been encouraged to remain vigilant, report suspicious activities, and work closely with law enforcement officers to improve security in the area. Parents and youth have particularly been urged to take a frontline role in guiding young people away from crime and supporting community-led security efforts.
The debate comes at a time when security concerns are increasingly becoming a major issue in several parts of Homa Bay County, with local leaders under pressure to provide solutions that guarantee the safety of residents.
As calls for action intensify, residents say they are looking beyond political exchanges and hoping for practical measures that will restore peace and confidence within Kabondo Kasipul.
