TikTok has revealed that it removed 884,591 videos uploaded in Kenya during the first quarter of 2026 for violating its Community Guidelines, underscoring the platform's intensified efforts to curb harmful and inappropriate content.

According to TikTok's latest Community Guidelines Enforcement Report, 99.7 percent of the offending videos were detected and removed proactively before they could be reported by users. Additionally, 96.3 percent of the content was taken down within 24 hours of being uploaded.

The report highlights the growing role of artificial intelligence and automated moderation tools in identifying content that violates platform rules, including hate speech, misinformation, harassment, graphic content, and other harmful material.

Beyond video removals, TikTok also deleted 48,739 accounts suspected to belong to users under the age of 13, reinforcing its commitment to protecting minors and enforcing age restrictions on the platform.

The transparency report comes as TikTok faces increasing scrutiny globally and in Kenya over online safety, content moderation, privacy concerns, and child protection measures. Kenyan authorities have previously called on the platform to strengthen safeguards against harmful content and improve transparency in its moderation practices.

TikTok remains one of the most popular social media platforms among Kenyan youth, making effective content moderation a critical issue for both regulators and users. The company says it continues to invest in technology, safety teams, and partnerships aimed at creating a safer digital environment while maintaining freedom of expression.
