RAYMOND ONYANGO ODERO EYES SOMU 2026/27 SEAT WITH SPORTS AND ENTERTAINMENT AGENDA
Maseno University politics is heating up ahead of the SOMU 2026/27 elections, and one name that continues to dominate student conversations is Raymond Onyango Odero.
Odero, a student of BA Literature with IT at Maseno Main Campus and an alumnus of Rang'ala Boys High School, has officially declared his interest in the upcoming student polls with a clear mantra: "Elevating sports; transforming Entertainment."
The aspirant is not new to leadership. His track record speaks for itself. At Rang'ala Boys High, he served as sports prefect, a role that nurtured his passion for talent development and team discipline. At Maseno University, he has scaled the leadership ladder, serving as the former Secretary General of Sicomusa and later as the former Chairperson of MUELISA - the Maseno University Elimika Literature Students Association.
Observers say his blend of academic background and affiliate leadership gives him a unique edge. Literature with IT brings creativity and innovation, while his experience in student associations has given him hands-on skills in organization, mobilization, and advocacy.
Speaking through his campaign poster released on 03 September 2026 by Hamasta Media, Odero promises to breathe new life into campus sports and entertainment if elected. His agenda, according to close allies, will focus on reviving inter-school sports tournaments, supporting talented students to join national leagues, and restructuring entertainment to be more inclusive, talent-based, and income-generating for students.
Unlike the usual entertainment characterized by one-off events, Odero's vision is to transform it into a sustainable platform where comedians, artists, DJs, and sports personalities can grow and be linked to outside opportunities.
With his slogan gaining traction at Maseno Main Campus, many students believe Odero represents the fresh energy SOMU needs.
