MUSWEPA Chairperson Suspends Officials, Announces Executive Changes
The Maseno University Students from Western Province Association (MUSWEPA) has announced major leadership changes following an official communication issued by the Office of the Chairperson on October 8, 2026.
In the notice signed by MUSWEPA Chairperson Ezra Barasa, the association declared the immediate suspension of all existing MUSWEPA official stamps. According to the communication, a new official stamp is currently being processed and details regarding its adoption will be shared with members in due course. The move signals a significant administrative transition within the association's leadership structure.
The communication also revealed that two members of the MUSWEPA executive have been relieved of their duties with immediate effect. The affected officials were identified as Malala Moses and Singoro Jacob. The notice stated that the decision was reached after allegations that the officials had acted contrary to the association’s constitution and engaged in activities deemed detrimental to the unity and interests of MUSWEPA.
According to the chairperson, the officials were accused of going against the House Constitution, betraying fellow members, and aligning themselves with individuals perceived as working against the organization. The statement further alleged that personal interests and bribery had contributed to actions viewed as harmful to the association.
Following the dismissal of the two executives, MUSWEPA has opened applications to fill the vacant positions. Interested members have been invited to submit their applications directly to the Chairperson's office. Applicants will subsequently appear before a Vetting Committee scheduled to convene on Sunday at the Governor’s Parlour.
The developments mark one of the most significant administrative shake-ups within MUSWEPA in recent months. The changes are expected to spark discussions among members regarding governance, accountability, and the future direction of the association.
As the recruitment process begins, attention will now shift to the Vetting Committee and the selection of new leaders who will help steer MUSWEPA's affairs in the coming months.
