Junior Stars on the brink after 2-0 loss to Tanzania in U17 AFCON qualifiers
Kenya's U17 team, the Junior Stars, lost 2-0 to Tanzania on Saturday in their opening Group C match of the CECAFA zone qualifiers for the U17 Africa Cup of Nations, played at Kigali Pele Stadium in Rwanda.
Didmas Shida Athanas put Tanzania ahead before half-time, against the run of play. Geoffrey Nkuba doubled the lead in the 57th minute, pouncing on a poor clearance inside the box.
The result sends Tanzania top of the group. Kenya now need a big win over Somalia in their final group match to stay in the running for a semi-final place as one of the best runners-up.
