Ne-Yo returns to Nairobi on Mashujaa Day: date, tickets and what to know
American R&B star Ne-Yo, the voice behind hits such as "So Sick", "Miss Independent" and "Because of You", is coming back to Nairobi for a one-off show on Tuesday, October 20, Mashujaa Day. K24 reports that it is his first Nairobi performance in 11 years.
A daytime concert
The event, billed as "One Night Only: Brunch Edition", runs from 3pm to 11pm. Because Mashujaa Day is a public holiday, the daytime format lets fans, and especially couples, plan a whole day around the concert instead of a late night out. Ne-Yo's exact stage time has not been announced.
Venue
Reports name the Ulinzi Sports Complex, also referred to as Ulinzi Grounds, in Lang'ata. Earlier coverage said the final venue and full programme were still to be confirmed, so check the organisers' official pages before you go.
Tickets
Tickets went on sale on September 12 through TicketYetu. Reported prices:
- Early Bird Gold: KES 7,500 (reported sold out)
- Gold: KES 15,000
- Platinum: KES 40,000
Organisers have said tickets are limited, and buying through official channels is the safest way to avoid fake tickets.
Who is behind it
The concert is organised by Fenon Premium Productions and Radio Africa Group, with Stanbic Bank as the headline sponsor and spirits company Pernod Ricard as a partner.
Ne-Yo has a huge following in Kenya, where his love songs have been wedding and radio staples for nearly two decades. For many fans, a Mashujaa Day afternoon singing along to his biggest hits is the main event of the holiday.
