The Maseno University community has been thrown into mourning following the sudden death of Arnold Shigochi, a third-year student pursuing Pharmacy at the institution.

The heartbreaking news was confirmed on Sunday, November 1, 2026, through an internal memorandum issued by the Pharmacy Students' Association of Maseno University (PSAMU), signed by its Secretary General, Onyango Joseph Stephen Alou.

In the memo addressed to all members of the association, PSAMU expressed profound sorrow over the loss of one of its own, describing Arnold as a dedicated student, classmate and cherished friend whose presence will be deeply missed.

According to the association, the news of Arnold's passing was received earlier in the afternoon and subsequently confirmed following direct communication with his family.

The sudden demise has left fellow students, classmates and members of the Pharmacy fraternity devastated as they come to terms with the loss of a colleague whose journey in the medical profession was still unfolding.

On behalf of the Executive Committee and the entire PSAMU fraternity, the association extended heartfelt condolences, prayers and thoughts to Arnold's family, fellow third-year students and close friends during this difficult period.

The association further assured the bereaved family of its commitment to supporting them and honouring Arnold's memory. It indicated that additional information concerning burial arrangements and the association's support to the family would be communicated in due course.

Meanwhile, the university community has been encouraged to stand together, keep the bereaved family in their thoughts and offer comfort to everyone affected by the heartbreaking loss.

Arnold's death is a painful reminder of how fragile life can be and how suddenly the lives of those around us can change.

As the Pharmacy fraternity mourns one of its own, the thoughts of the university community remain with his family and friends.
