Ogalo Wins MUCRA Chair in Tight Contest at Maseno University
The Maseno University Class Representatives Association has elected Ogalo Saiphat Ariro as its incoming chairperson following a closely contested election held at Bamboo Cafe on Saturday, April 25, 2026.
Ogalo emerged victorious after securing 63 votes, narrowly defeating Bildad Otieno, who garnered 58 votes in a race described by participants as competitive, peaceful, and credible.
The win marks another major milestone for Ogalo, coming barely three weeks after he was elected to lead Migori County Maseno University Students' Association, signaling growing confidence in his leadership among student representatives.
Class Representatives who participated in the exercise praised the electoral process, reporting that the polls were conducted freely and fairly, with protocol observed and transparency maintained throughout the exercise.
The narrow margin of victory reflected a highly competitive contest, underscoring both strong support for the two candidates and the vibrancy of student democracy within Maseno University.
Ogalo now assumes the mantle of leading MUCRA at a time when class representatives continue to play a critical role in championing student welfare, representation, and accountability across the university.
His double electoral success within a month is likely to strengthen his influence in campus leadership circles as expectations rise over his agenda for student representation.
