Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has claimed that approximately 90 per cent of the topics he covered during his free online KCSE Mathematics revision classes appeared in this year's Mathematics Paper 1 examination.

In a statement shared after the examination, Owino expressed confidence in his teaching programme, saying candidates who followed his lessons were well prepared to perform exceptionally.

The legislator has been conducting free online revision sessions through social media platforms, helping candidates prepare for Mathematics and other subjects.

His remarks, however, have sparked debate, with Nairobi politician Geoffrey Mosiria calling on the Ministry of Education and the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) to investigate possible examination leakages.

Owino has defended his revision programme, maintaining that his success came from identifying likely examination topics rather than accessing confidential examination materials.

There is currently no established evidence that the MP or his team accessed examination papers before candidates sat the examination.

The controversy has renewed discussions about examination integrity, the effectiveness of online revision and the importance of ensuring fairness in national examinations.
