Young people from across Emabungo Ward gathered on Sunday, 31st May 2026, for a highly engaging Youth Consultative Forum hosted by Josphat Olonyi under the theme "Sauti ya Vijana, Mwelekeo wa Jamii." The forum provided a unique platform for youth representatives from various polling stations to share their views and recommendations on leadership and community development ahead of the 2027 elections.

The atmosphere was marked by openness, enthusiasm, and a strong desire among young people to contribute meaningfully to the future of Emabungo.

In his opening remarks, Josphat Olonyi shared his personal leadership journey and explained his motivation for seeking leadership. He emphasized the importance of servant leadership, noting that effective leaders must first listen to the people before making decisions on their behalf. He further outlined his vision for a more inclusive, empowered, and prosperous Emabungo.

A major highlight of the forum was the listening session, where participants candidly discussed the kind of MCA Emabungo needs in 2027. Youth representatives stressed the need for leaders who are accessible, accountable, transparent, and committed to community service. They also highlighted several shortcomings of current leadership and called for leaders who prioritize development over personal interests.

During the strategic advice session, participants assumed the role of campaign advisors and provided practical recommendations to Josphat Olonyi. They identified his strengths, suggested areas for improvement, and proposed strategies for engaging different segments of the community, including youth, women, elders, and special interest groups.

The forum further focused on developing the Emabungo People's Agenda, where participants collectively identified five key priorities requiring urgent attention. These included improvement of roads and infrastructure, youth empowerment and job creation, support for education through bursaries, enhancement of health services, and promotion of agriculture and economic opportunities. The priorities reflected the real concerns and aspirations of residents across the ward.

Discussions also centered on future consultations, community service initiatives, civic education, and increased voter awareness as pathways toward strengthening community participation in governance.

The Youth Consultative Forum successfully achieved its objective of gathering honest feedback, political insights, and practical recommendations from young people. The event demonstrated the growing desire among Emabungo youth to actively participate in shaping the future of their community and reaffirmed the belief that sustainable development can only be achieved when leaders and citizens work together.

"Sauti ya Vijana, Mwelekeo wa Jamii" remains more than a theme—it is a call to action for inclusive leadership, active citizenship, and a brighter future for Emabungo.
