The Maseno University Kisumu County Students Association (MUKCSA) has officially distanced itself from certificates circulating in its name, firmly declaring that it has not endorsed any aspirant or candidate in the ongoing student leadership campaigns.

In an official memorandum addressed to all MUKCSA members, the association's Executive clarified that no candidate has received its formal endorsement, cautioning students against claims suggesting otherwise.

The statement comes amid heightened political activity surrounding the forthcoming Students Organisation of Maseno University (SOMU) elections, where endorsements from student associations could significantly influence campaign narratives and delegate decisions.

According to the memorandum, the certificates currently circulating in the association's name were neither officially issued nor authorised by its Executive. The leadership further stated that it had no knowledge of the documents' preparation or distribution and consequently disclaimed responsibility for their circulation.

The association expressed concern over what it described as attempts to create a false impression of institutional endorsement through unauthorised documentation. It warned that such actions undermine institutional integrity, disrespect the association's leadership and risk misleading its membership.

MUKCSA Secretary General Leonard Onditi formally disowned the certificates on behalf of the Executive, urging members and aspirants to respect established procedures and maintain transparency throughout the electoral process.

The clarification places renewed emphasis on the importance of verifying endorsement claims, particularly during competitive student elections where institutional backing can become a significant political instrument.

Although the memorandum did not identify any particular aspirant as responsible for circulating the documents, its strong language underscored the association's dissatisfaction with the situation and its determination to protect its institutional credibility.

MUKCSA reaffirmed its commitment to unity, transparency, accountability and respect for institutional processes, maintaining that any endorsement attributed to the association must be supported by proper authorisation.

The statement serves as a caution to aspirants and their supporters against presenting unofficial documents as evidence of organisational backing, as the race for SOMU leadership continues to attract attention across the university community.
