The Maseno University Students Organisation (SOMU) has issued an important academic calendar update outlining key dates for the remainder of Semester One and the commencement of Semester Two for the 2026/2027 academic year.

In a memo dated November 2, 2026, and addressed to all students, SOMU Chairperson Philian Onyango communicated the revised academic timelines, urging students to take note of the upcoming academic activities and prepare adequately.

According to the communication, Semester One lectures officially run from Monday, November 2, to Wednesday, December 23, 2026, covering a period of eight weeks.

The university is expected to conduct Semester One examinations from Monday, January 4, to Friday, January 22, 2027, with the examination period scheduled to last three weeks.

Following the examinations, students are expected to proceed for a one-week semester break towards the end of January before reporting for the commencement of Semester Two in February 2027.

The memo further indicates that Semester Two will run for approximately ten weeks, with four lecture hours indicated in the communication.

In her message, Chairperson Philian Onyango encouraged students to remain focused and dedicated as they complete their lectures and prepare for the upcoming examination period.

The announcement provides students with an opportunity to plan their academic schedules, organise their revision programmes and make necessary preparations ahead of the examinations.

Students are therefore encouraged to familiarise themselves with the communicated timelines and remain attentive to any further official updates from the university administration.

Academic excellence remains a shared responsibility.
