Ruto sets April 2027 date for Rironi–Mau Summit highway
President William Ruto says the first phase of the Rironi–Mau Summit highway will be finished by April 2027, two months earlier than the previous June target.
He spoke on Sunday at a church service at St. Mark's Catholic Church in Likuyani Constituency. "I will open the road in April 2027," the President said.
The 175 km stretch will be six lanes in some places and four in others. Some sections are expected to open before the end of 2026. Roads CS Davis Chirchir said dualling between Rironi and Naivasha would be complete by October 30 this year.
Work on the next phase, Mau Summit to Malaba, is expected to start once phase one is done. An Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank grant is funding feasibility work for that section.
